6/19/2017 Types of Decking Materials. The main types of decking materials that you will be faced with in any store will be softwood hardwood and composite (although there is also anti-slip decking which we’ll cover later). In this section we’ll cover what each of these materials are when they are best used and when you may want to avoid them.
One important distinction to make if you choose cedar as a decking material is that you must ensure the cedar you use is heartwood as opposed to sapwood. Heartwood is cut from the center of the tree and is considerably denser whereas sapwood is the softer material on the outside of the tree.
L x W = Decking Surface Area (DSA) in m2. Step 2: Calculate the coverage of your deck boards. Add the deck board width (W) to the Expansion Gap Length (EGL). Add the deck board's Length (L) to the Expansion Gap Width (EGW). Multiple these numbers together. (W + EGL) x (L + EGW) = Single Board Coverage (SBC) in m2.
8/10/2021 Because this composite decking material has good qualities from plastic and wood it is very weather and stain-resistant and it is also quite durable. This means that you will not have to worry about your deck splintering or rotting with wet weather. It also means that it will not require as much maintenance as other types of decking material.4.9/5
